Decosimo Principal, Michael Costello, Awarded CFE Credential

Designation gives Decosimo four Certified Fraud Examiners, the most of any regional firm.

Decosimo is pleased to announce Principal D. Michael Costello, CPA has been awarded CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) credentials.

The CFE designation is awarded by the ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners). CPA's who earn this credential show advanced proficiency in the area of financial fraud prevention and detection, and successfully complete a series of tests.

Recent publicity given to fraudulent financial reporting by some corporations has resulted in renewed emphasis on protection from fraudulent practices.

Mr. Costello is one of four Certified Fraud Examiners in the Decosimo CPA Firm. These professionals provide suggestions and solutions that reduce the risk of fraudulent financial reporting and employee fraud. Mr. Costello stated, "We are able to conduct formal fraud investigations at the request of clients, seeking instances of fraudulent activity, as well as providing insights on how to prevent fraud from occurring in the first place."

ABOUT MR. COSTELLO: Mr. Michael Costello is a certified public accountant, business appraiser and consultant with nearly 20 years of training and experience in business valuations and appraisals, business acquisitions and divestitures, and related fields. Mr. Costello is qualified to serve as an expert witness in area U.S. District Courts, Circuit Courts, and Chancery Courts, and has been appointed by the Hamilton County Circuit Court as a Special Master to resolve an accounting dispute, as a Custodian to liquidate a business and to appraise a business, and by the Hamilton County Chancery Court as a Custodian/Receiver to manage and sell a medical practice. He earned a B.S. in business administration and a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Mike is a certified public accountant, accredited in business valuation (CPA·ABV) and is Series 6 and 63 licensed.
