CHATTANOOGA, TN—Joseph Decosimo and Company, PLLC, a leading regional accounting and business advisory firm, is pleased to announce that its Information Technology (I.T.) Director Brian D. Joyce has partnered with the widely recognized leader in information security training and certification, the SANS Institute, to offer a 10-week SANS Security Essentials program in Chattanooga.
The training course will be held on Tuesday evenings from Sept. 16 to Nov. 18 at Decosimo’s conference suite in the Tallan Financial Center. Reduced tuition fees are available through Aug. 19. The comprehensive security course is well suited for security professionals and managers who want to fill the gaps in their understanding of technical information security, for professionals who want to understand information security beyond simple terminology and concepts, as well as anyone new to information security with some background in information systems and networking. The SANS Security Essentials course will also prepare I.T. professionals for the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC). For Federal government employees and contractors, the course also qualifies for Level II and III certification under DoD 8570 requirements.
Brian Joyce, a SANS Mentor, will lead weekly class discussions, provide hands-on demonstrations, review the most prominent features and answer questions related to the SANS Security Essentials course material.
Mr. Joyce is the Director of Technology/Security for the Decosimo CPA firm and is the lead technical member of the Decosimo Forensic Accounting team. Based in the firm’s Chattanooga office, he manages all aspects of Decosimo's information technology efforts, including strategic planning, design and implementation of network systems, client- and server-side applications and security analysis and compliance. Mr. Joyce oversees the I.T. infrastructure for Decosimo’s eight offices and approximately 300 employees in three states and the Cayman Islands.
He has earned the GSEC certification, the prestigious GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification and the GIAC Critical Infrastructure Protection (GCIP) certification. Mr. Joyce is a frequent speaker presenting to various groups and professional associations on topics such as I.T. security and risk assessments and computer forensics. He is active in many civic and professional organizations, and serves as Chairman of the firm's I.T. Steering Committee and as Chairman of the Moore Stephens North America Technology Administrators Special Interest Group. He also served 12 years in elected office as a Georgia State Representative from 1992-2004.
