Decosimo Forensic Accountant Featured in Hamilton County Herald

 

CHATTANOOGA, TN (September 16, 2009)––Joseph Decosimo and Company, PLLC (Decosimo), a leading regional accounting and business advisory firm, announces that Sharon Hamrick, CPA, has been awarded the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.  Certified Public Accountants who earn the credential must show advanced proficiency in the area of financial fraud prevention and detection, successfully complete a series of tests and meet experience requirements.

Ms. Hamrick is part of a team of forensic accountants at Decosimo that provides investigative and detection services to resolve allegations of fraud.  The trained forensic accountants also provide proactive fraud risk assessments, evaluate internal controls and help design and implement comprehensive anti-fraud programs, including the use of computer-aided detection tools and techniques. These professionals provide suggestions and solutions that reduce the risk of fraudulent financial reporting and workplace fraud.

Decosimo’s team of Certified Fraud Examiners complement the work of Decosimo Advisory Services, a practice providing expert witness testimony and analysis in cases of financial fraud.

About Sharon Hamrick, CPA, CFE

Sharon Hamrick is a certified public accountant, certified fraud examiner and consultant with more than twenty years experience providing business consultation services, tax preparation and financial statement preparation primarily for the manufacturing, retail, health care and construction industries. Her experience includes consulting work in taxation, accounting, financial, economic and business issues of commercial litigation with emphasis on economic damages and forensic accounting issues.

Ms. Hamrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University. She received her CPA designation in 1982.

She is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its Business Valuation and Forensic and Litigation Services section. Her other memberships are with the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
