Decosimo Announces Volkswagen Supplier Qualifications Seminar Series
DECOSIMO HOSTS SEMINAR SERIES FOR POTENTIAL VOLKSWAGEN SUPPLIERS AND VENDORS PRESENTED BY GERMAN CONSULTING FIRM CHATTANOOGA, TN (February 18, 2010) – With the startup of the Volkswagen (VW) plant in Chattanooga, there will be many business opportunities for local companies to begin vendor or supplier relationships with VW and their direct suppliers. The scope, breadth and extent of supporting services needed goes beyond standard parts manufacturers. Decosimo Certified Public Accountants will host a seminar series presented by the German consulting firm, RMG Consult GmbH (RMG), which will focus on helping companies achieve and maintain supplier/vendor status with VW and other companies who will occupy the VW supplier park. The seminar series will provide companies with a better understanding of the VW purchasing and contracting process, as well as their quality control and certification requirements. In addition, RMG will be looking to match local companies with current VW suppliers seeking sub-contracting or joint venture arrangements in the U.S. “Since RMG has a history of working with VW suppliers in Germany, Italy and other countries, Decosimo representatives met with them to determine how we could work together to better prepare local businesses for the exciting opportunity to work with Volkswagen and other automotive parts suppliers here in Chattanooga,” said Nick Decosimo, managing principal of Decosimo. “While VW does not require any vendor or supplier to work with RMG, we understand that it is often recommended that a new or continuing supplier engage this consulting firm when there have been timing and quality issues under an existing purchasing arrangement that needs to be resolved.” Decosimo will host RMG’s introductory two-hour seminar, “Working with/in the VW Environment,” on February 24 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost for the introductory seminar is $75 per person. On March 2 starting at 8:30 a.m., the firm will host RMG’s expanded, full-day workshop with industry-specific break out sessions to help companies understand the requirements, purchasing, contracting and quality evaluation processes, as well as other qualifications which are necessary to become a potential vendor or supplier to VW. The cost for the full-day workshop is $495 per person. Both events will be held in Decosimo’s training room in Suite 216 of the Tallan Financial Center. Registration and online payment arrangements for the workshops are available at www.decosimo.com/seminars. Reservations are recommended, as opportunities are limited on a first-come, first-served basis. RMG representatives offered an overview discussion on this topic in January at "Going Global," a seminar held by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, speaking to local business officials about the challenges and opportunities for local companies.
