Tax Manager – Chattanooga, TN

Working interdependently with principals, the Tax Manager will plan, supervise, and review engagements, oversee larger or more complex engagements, and provide consultation to clients. The Tax Manager will take an active leadership role by maintaining and enhancing client relationships and contributing to staff, group, and practice development.

Ideal candidates MUST a have a minimum of 7-10 years current experience with federal and state estate and gift tax planning and compliance.  Must be able to review and critique legal documents.  Legal background is a plus.

Position Description

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: 

• Reviewing personal and fiduciary income tax returns, gift tax returns
• Reviewing estate tax returns
• Estate planning
• Researching tax laws and preparing tax memorandum on technical issues
  • Managing all aspects of client accounts and fostering client relationships
  • Expanding services to existing clients and developing new business relationships 

Basic Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree
• CPA license or JD required
• Tax advisory and estate planning experience required
• 7+ years experience in dealing with high net worth clients required
• 3+ years of managerial experience required 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation of Law desired
• Recent public accounting experience required
• Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships
• Proven ability to develop new business relationships and expand services to existing clients
• Excellent communication skills-both oral and written
